Cheyenne County April 1 1919 Commissioners Meeting Record
The Cheyenne County Commissioners met in regular session at the Court House in Sidney Nebraska on April 1 1919. Present were TL R Barlow C S Radcliffe Wm Goding J Tu Reel Joyney and F N Slawson with Clerk. They ordered the section line from Sec 13 to 18 Township 16 Range 47 to be a public highway sixty six feet wide and instructed the County Surveyor to survey and stake it. Road overseer to place the road in passable condition after staking. Fritz Brauer appointed State Hall Adjuster. Liberty State Bank of Sidney approved as public funds depository. Several tax and claims actions approved including general fund disbursements and support for county offices and jail.

Cattle Loan Co Changes Ownership in Nebraska
Missouri Valley Cattle Loan Company of Omaha takes over McNish Cattle Loan, creating the largest such outfit in the US with a $2,000,000 capital. W. E. Swatzlander, president of First National Bank of Sidney, named representative for southwestern Nebraska and adjacent territory to promote loans to cattle men. He can mobilize up to half a million dollars for local stockmen at favorable rates, citing world food needs and bank confidence in his conservatism and enterprise.

Weeden, Sidney Prominent Citizen, Dies After Illness
W. H. Weeden of Sidney died April 2 after a short illness at his home. Born August 11, 1851 in Lynn, Massachusetts, he leaves a mother and two children W R and Flora, wife Marie predeceased him. He moved from Lynn to Osceola in 1882, ran a furniture business in Sidney, and recently retired to pass the business to son W R Weeden. Services were held at home by Dr Light of the Presbyterian church. remains were sent to Osceola for interment.

Mrs Susan Lawrence Dies at 87 in Sidney Nebraska
Mrs Susan Lawrence born Cleveland Ohio November 28 1831 died at her son EB J Sweet in Sidney Nebraska April 1 1919. She married Dodge Sweet August 6 1848 who died September 1 1861 leaving children to persevere. Later married Walter Lawrence who died a few years later. She joined the Methodist church in 1875 and remained faithful. Survived by two sons A W Sweet Billingham Washington E J Sweet and Mrs Ragan Sidney Neb two sisters Colfax Washington one brother Brush Creek Iowa fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Funeral Thursday April 3 at 2 30 p m at City cemetery conducted by Rev L B Lewis.

Hazel Hazlitt born February 17 1901 near Tuck Valley Iowa died March 28 1919 in Sidney with parents Frank and Hazel Tazlitt. She moved to Cheyenne County January 1907 and leaves father, mother, three sisters Frances Irene Inez and brother Harry. Her death is mourned by teachers and classmates who recall her gentle disposition and nearly perfect school record. Six junior pallbearers attended the Methodist Church funeral. Rev. Lewis officiated. Burial at Danish Cemetery near the Hazlitt home in Sidney.

Near Fatal Lincoln Highway Accident Near Bronson
A Saturday night crash on the Lincoln Highway near Bronson involved Millard Downing Lyle Saxon Clarence Olson and Hershel Spear row driving. Spearrow sustained spine and head injuries but is progressing well. Steering failure is blamed as the wheel broke off causing the car to flip over and injure one occupant beneath it. The vehicle is described as nearly a total wreck.
