The couple Jucots and Emma BE. Davis of Twin Falls wed at Shoshone in May, witnessed by Rev. W. H. Swartz. Amid a severe 1917 dust storm the ceremony took place near noon, while locals endured the event and cheered the union.
The Roll of Honor lists Sho shone boys serving in the army and notes a weekly Journal mailed to those with secure addresses. Names include Russell Fuller, Raymond Wheeler, Stephen Bond, Fred Peake, Cary Casey, Dwight Casey, Fred Thevenin, D P Hatch, Butch Ellis, Chester Johnson, Byron Yaden, Fred Walker, John Elliott, Morris Viera, Frank Vasconcellos, Ferdinand Clemens, and in Philippine service Walter Meyers and Earl Greene.
Missed Red Cross members urged to join at the library with a one dollar fee and a dollar for the magazine. Shoshone Study Club met at the Parish House, with Richfield Club Day celebrations featuring a humorous play and musical numbers for visiting guests.
The Shoshone boys basketball team finished a brief season with four games, three counting in the high school class. Results show Wendel 5 Shoshone 15, Twin Falls 4 Shoshone 1, Jerome 9 Shoshone 14. Coach DicGraw praises the team’s effort and anticipates future success.
A patriotic rally is set for Sunday evening with Governor Alexander and other state officers present. Ex Governor Gooding will preside as a newly appointed state war council member for the region. The Governor’s party will move to Fairfield Monday to appoint Camas county officers, then return to RichSard for another rally, and Tuesday proceed to Burley for the same itinerary.
A Red Cross workers meeting at Mrs E G Geeding’s home earned official authority to form a local chapter. The group aligns with the national Red Cross, honoring wartime service and urging Shoshone’s support in the final balance. Mr S Poulter Morris, director of Mountain Division Red Cross, commends the society’s efforts to Mrs R Wheeler.
