A new company has been organized to initiate construction of the North Side Canal project. Officials expect groundbreaking and competitive bidding to begin within weeks as financing and land rights are secured for the noticeable regional irrigation effort.
Shoshone High School plans a Friday evening program at the opera house to raise money for the piano fund. A Chicago bond issue of about 6 million dollars will back Twin Falls Land and Water Company projects on the north and south sides, reorganizing the company and extending land sales and water rights. The plan includes a major expansion of irrigation and settlement with a new management setup and local control, led by I H Buhl and partners, as a broader effort to cultivate the fertile Twin Falls area.
The state veterinary surgeon set December 1 as the dip deadline for all sheep in the fall. A number of sheepowners in Washington and Canyon counties have resisted dipping, bringing flocks in from ranges without dipping. About eight to ten ownershave not dipped, representing many sheep, and some plan to fight the dipping law if forced to dip.
Sheriff Millsaps and County Attorney Disney report the arrest of L N- seapen Frank Gomes Nels Christenson Charles Watters and John Doe for bootlegging at the Rupert Heyburn government townsites on the Minidoka tract. Each man posted $300 bond and awaits a Tuesday hearing as they challenge state law jurisdiction over government reservations.
The Lincoln county Idaho Board of Commissioners met in special session with Chairman F E Grosse and Commissioner Guy Lemmon. They ordered reopening the old road through lot 3 section 21 to restore passable conditions and postponed a schoolhouse road petition for lack of signers. They will tour the Minidoka Tract January 5–6 1906 to inspect roads before adjourning sine die.
Notice of lease applications for Idaho state lands due January 1, 1906 and public auction for unassigned lands on January 15, 1908. Also the January 1906 board session will consider County Surveyor appointment to fill Waldron’s term and bids for County Physician for 1906. AL McManox.
