Bunjes School Opens With New Building

Bunjes school opened its 1937 88 term in a new building praised for architecture and function. The U shaped plan 80 by 44 feet includes two recitation rooms a cloak and storage area a book room and a stage. Principal Chovanetz and Mrs Chovanetz lead with 15 plus years each in service and high qualifications as the community celebrates a bond free modern rural school.

Annual Parish Feast Largely Attended at Bluecher Park

A record crowd attended the annual Parish Feast at Bluecher Park on Sunday. Donations included 10 bales of cotton auctioned by County Clerk Joe F. Bozka and M. I. Hozka of Hallettsville. Cotton buyers included Joe Muras, C. B. Welhausen & Co., Wolters Bros. Co., Star Grocery, Kubicek and Adamek, Ignac Pavlica, and Emil Hajek with bale weights ranging 475 to 635 pounds and prices from 12% to 18 cents. 281 dance tickets sold. Patek’s Orchestra provided daytime music and Movie Klos Orchestra played at night. Gross receipts were $2,582.13. expenses $861.21, net receipts $1,720.92.

Barn Fire Hits Hinek Zissa Farm Near Shiner

A large barn at the Hinek Zissa farm near Shiner on Route 2 burned Sunday at about 5 30 pm. The occupants John Pustes jovsky were away and the fire destroyed the barn along with all feed and harness. Farmers Fire Department responded but could do little as the blaze was well underway. Some insurance coverage was noted.
