The Business Men's Club met last Thursday with high attendance and inviting lunch. President Schramm was late due to business. Fifty dollars was donated to the Community Chest fund. A committee of Benno Holzchak and B. J. Novak was formed to aid a worthy patient at Crippled Children's Hospital in Marlin. No further business adjourned.

Funeral services held for Fritz J. Luedecke in Shiner
Fritz J. Luedecke age 62 was born August 12, 1885 at Witting. He died recently and funeral rites were conducted Thursday at Shiner with burial at 40 o clock. Survived by wife Frieda and four children Laura Frieda. three brothers John, Willie and Henry. adopted sister Mrs Mary Pfeil. Pallbearers included Ed Buech Ed Herder William Zappe Leah Dae Kee Edmund Pfeil and Fritz Boedh. Remains arrived from Seguin where service was held at 1 30 P M. Honorary pastor Rev Janssen of Seguin officiated.

Narrow Escape During Farm Fire Burns Two Boys
Edwin and Perry Kloesel were plowing when a gas spill ignited a flame burst. They suffered severe hand burns but escaped serious injury as flames did not reach their clothing. They were rushed to town for medical care and tetanus serum. By Monday their bandages remained painful but in healing.

Cotton futures fell about one dollar per bale as the government's September crop report showed the highest yield per acre on record and a rise from the prior official estimate. The market swung nervously as traders balanced accounts ahead of the report, with the Sept. 1 yield set at 16,098,000 bales and condition at 75 percent of normal versus 81.3 percent from the August forecast of 15,598,000 bales. Private forecasts had suggested a yield about 300,000 bales lower than the official figure.

Allred declares second Texas extraordinary session
Gov. James V. Allred proclaims a second extraordinary session of the 45th Legislature to begin Sept. 27 to consider revenue measures.
