The Shiner High School P T A held its first fall meeting with president Mrs Wm Wendtland Jr presiding. Miss Mabel Merrem spoke on library management and journalism. New committees were named and fund donations approved for library books and magazine subscriptions. A Halloween carnival was planned and the group aims to add a Home Economics Department.

The St. Ludmila P T A met September 3 to launch a new year with a $1 membership fee to boost participation. Plans include a candy sale in September, an annual bazaar in early November, and painting bills plus new grammar school library books. New executive members Mrs Wagner Mrs Dari lek and Sister Sedonia were appointed. Meetings are the first Monday of each month at 3 30 PM in the school library.

Painful Injury At Temple Lumber Co Prospect
Fred Baros, an employee at Temple Lumber Co, suffered a severe hand injury Friday morning when blades were adjusted in the electric plant. His left little finger was scraped to the bone, the thumb cut to the first joint, and the palm lacerated. Medical aid arrived quickly, and doctors say recovery will take at least 30 days with precautions to avoid amputation. Fred is the son of Mr and Mrs Frank Baros Jr.
