Oliver C Doc Burkett died at 4 15 a m Saturday September 12 1964 at Robert B Green Hospital San Antonio after a 12 day stay He was 81 years 6 months 24 days He was buried in Shiner City Cemetery funeral services were held September 13 at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel Rev F E Eilers officiated Pallbearers were Edward Teal Martin Lee Walter Paul Curt Messer Oscar Lichey and George Fiedler He was born February 18 1883 in Dreyer Community, married to Louisa Marburger in 1902, and served as Lavaca County Precinct 3 road commissioner. He is survived by three sons, two daughters, a sister, a brother, ten grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Obituary: Albert J. Benes of Shiner Dies at 82
Albert J. Benes, long time Shiner resident, died September 12 1964 after a prolonged illness. Born August 12 1882 in Prada Fayette County he was married to Marie Ermis and leaves wife four children two daughters and two sons seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held at Sts Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church with a Requiem High Mass. He was a retired farmer and a devout Catholic.
