Koether Retires After Thirteen Years as Postmaster

H G Koether retires after 18 years as postmaster in Shiner praising modernization of the Post Office. The office achieved second class status, with nearly $4000 spent on refurnishings and remodeling. Assistant W W Garbade, also praised, will be missed for courteous service and loyalty to the newspaper and public.

Postmaster Herder Takes Charge of Post Office

Shiner receives Ed Herder as new postmaster with a long service record from 1897 to 1919. He promotes Mrs Erna Longoria to assistant and names Marie Lahodny as clerk. The new force assumed duty on Sunday September 1.

Opening Beasley School Dance at Midway Hall

A big dance at Midway Hall for Beasley School benefits Sunday night September 15 featured Migl's Orchestra for all ages. Admission 35 cents for men, ladies free. refreshments on the grounds. Visitors J. L. Mikulik and wife of San Antonio were Sunday guests.

A J Blohm Suffers Serious Injuries in Auto Mishap

Distressing Houston report states A J Blohm sustained serious injuries in a Sunday morning auto crash. He was unconscious at Herman hospital after a head on collision near an under pass while driving from Shiner to Houston. Fractured skull and severe cuts followed the impact. relatives rushed to the bedside and later reports indicated condition improved after head surgery.

Baby Harriet Louise Tait Born in Columbus

Mr. and Mrs. R E Tait welcomed a baby girl on August 29. The infant, Harriet Louise, is the former Miss Alice Pohler. Relatives received word Tuesday night of the infant's death, bringing sorrow to the family.

Gebert Family Visit Amid Tragic Local Death

Chas Gebert and wife Louise Heinze and son visited O A Brieger’s home Sunday to see George Gebert whose little son is ill at the local hospital. The Gazette chronicles the death of Le Roy Gebert aged 10 after a ruptured appendix sent him to the local hospital. Le Roy was a half brother of O A Brieger.
