Instructions For Distribution of Relief Money

Mayor Richter and Commissioner Seim attended a meeting in Austin to receive guidance for state relief work. Texas is allotted 20 million dollars for relief, to be distributed across subdivisions. An estimated 100000 workers will be employed on Civil Works projects by December 1. Victor Dziewas reports 110 signers in Shiner. Kasper will assign labor to city streets while Seim directs most to county roads.

Twentieth Century Club Holds Meeting with Resignations

The Twentieth Century Club met on Thursday, November 16, with Vice President Mrs. J W Boyle presiding. Mrs. E G Burke’s resignation was read and accepted. The program covered Roman and Early Christian Architecture and contributions of the Etruscans, with talks by Mrs. Wm Wendtland Jr and Mrs. Edgar Wolters. Mrs. Thomas Hughs spoke on Early Christian and Byzantine, and Mrs. Gus Wolters discussed Romanesque Churches.

December Meeting Of Business Men's Club Hostesses

The semi monthly gathering at Royal Cafe held last week featured a Thanksgiving luncheon. Supt. McDonald delivered the invocation. Minutes and the treasurer's report were approved. The December fourth Thursday meeting was canceled. the December 14 meeting will be open to members and their families with Shiner High School basketball girls serving. The session was brief so attendees could see the PTA benefit play at the city auditorium.

Service of Praise And Thanksgiving

The Methodist church held a special Thanksgiving service Sunday night with a 30 minute opening of song praise and prayer. Rev. Dulaney delivered the sermon and the free will offering for the church orphanage totaled $20.25. Melba Welhausen was highlighted for a violin solo and a quartet by Dreyer Welhausen Zahradnik Rutte with Grace McDonald on piano drew high praise from the congregation.

The Shiner Catholic Church hosted a wedding Tuesday at 8 30 AM as Mr George Spann and Miss Joanna Jalafka joined in marriage with Very Rev L P Netardus officiating. School coronation draws crowd. receipts near forty five dollars

Munas and Johnnie Hajek sparked much laughter at the school coronation. The primer expression pupils gave their colonial number that pleased many, with Marthalyn Valenta, Madelyn Jo Hajek, Sallie Beth Jones and Alice Koether assisted by Gene Hajes and Clyde Otto.
