Hog owners who slaughter and sell meat pay the tax, with exemptions for self-consumed hogs. restaurants and hotels that slaughter for boarders also owe. Tax rates rise from 50 cents per hundred pounds, to 1.00 in December, 1.50 in January, and 2.00 after February 1. Corn is tax exempt when sold or traded, or when ground into meal or flour the tax applies. farm households’ use is exempt. Shiner Unemployed Traffic Blocked At City Hall
Shiner's unemployed reported for work Monday as 169 registrations were filed but only 73 could be given jobs.
