Barta Hoerig Wedding at Catholic Church

Miss Erna Hoerig and Mr. Frank Barta of El Campo wed at the Catholic Church on Monday morning November 6. Father Netardus officiated with witnesses Ewald Schmidt and Joe Hart. Ebert and Hoerig Wedding at United Dr. Martin Luther Church

The wedding of Fritz Ebert and Hertha Hoerig surprised many friends. Rev. Richard Schuetze conducted the ceremony Wednesday afternoon at United Dr. Martin Luther church with Mrs. Theo Dierksen playing. Witnesses were Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hoerig. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hoerig, wore brown crepe and carried white roses. A supper for relatives followed at the bride’s home. The groom, who owns a Shiner cold drink stand, and the couple plan to live at the Frank Tomasko residence. Congratulations were extended by the Gazette.

The Shiner High School Comanches opened the 1983-84 basketball season with an 81 to 18 victory over the city’s All-Stars. The game saw a tight first half at 7-6 before a dominant second half as the Comanches surged ahead. Coaches Jones and McDonald stressed team play, defense, and drills to build pivoting and guard work, with strong fan support and a pep squad ready to back the team.
