The Epworth League hosted a senior party at E. F. Wolters home with Miss Stella Wolters playing violin. Guests enjoyed color themed place cards, anagrams and other contests, followed by punch and sandwiches for 36 attendees chaired by Emily Schmidt.
The Teple met in regular session Tuesday afternoon to hear Meta Holchak report on her recent Galveston assignment. She received a rising vote of thanks for the presentation. Charles Longoria was elected to membership.
The Senior Class of 1920 expresses thanks for acts of kindness from teachers and the community. They single out Mr T J Ponton for foundational education and Mr T H Leslie for patient guidance and helping make graduation possible. They also praise Rev Rector, Mrs Joe Hughs, and Miss Stella Wolters for decorations, inspiration, and musical contributions.
News from Shiner reports the death of Mrs. Koenning at a San Antonio hospital after months of illness. She was nearly 23, survived by a husband and two young children, the youngest just over four weeks old, with her mother Mrs. Townsend of Hallettsville. The funeral was held Tuesday evening at Shiner City Cemetery.
Next Friday May 28 a picnic outing will be tendered the scholars of the Methodist Sunday School at the forks of the creek in the Welhausen pasture. The children will gather at the church at 9 o'clock, provided with well filled baskets. All children are invited. Mrs. Eliza Welhausen was taken to Yoakum last Sunday to visit her son, Philip and family.
A capacity crowd enjoyed Shiner High School class play Dear Boy Graduates last Friday night at the Opera House. Cast members led by Charlie Kasper as Jyde Walker and Isabel Daniel as Geneieve earned praise, with Ellen Elvera Herder and Louise Thulemeyer delivering strong supporting turns. Receipts reached 123 dollars as the audience applauded the piano interludes and Glee Club performances.
