Shiner Dairy Day Set for Legion Park May 26

Shiner plans its annual Dairy Day at Legion Park on Saturday May 26 starting at 10 00 a m. Activities include dairy animal classifications by ideal type with ribbons from Class AA to Class E and trophies for top male and female of each breed followed by dinner at the show grounds.

Shiner High School Baccalaureate Services Held May 20

Baccalaureate services were held Sunday May 20 at 8 p m in the Shiner High School Gym. Fifteen seniors entered to Marche Pontificate played by Mrs W L Russell on violin with Mrs Wendtland at piano. Lutheran Choir sang God Of Our Fathers directed by Mrs Dierksen with accompanist Mrs Stindt. pastors Oehlke Horwood Stephens delivered invocation sermon and benediction. Recessional and final music completed the service.

At a May 14 meeting the La Vac a County Board annexed Burnes No 20 Boundary Line No 27 Mt Olive No 33 and Michna Beasley No 39 into Shiner Independent School District. The move brings total annexations to eleven since January 1 with Koerth Lights Chapel Boursville Evergreen Sublime Vsetin Rabb Switch Williamsburg Mossy Grove joining other districts. La Vac a County dropped from 38 rural districts in 1950 to 27 today.
