SICK LIST: Local residents in hospital and at home
E J Wesselsky underwent an appendicitis operation at the local hospital on Tuesday noon and is doing nicely. Mrs E Runk is ill at home. Daniel Zissa, son of Julius and Mrs Zissa, had severe head injuries after a fall from a horse and is improving in hospital. Calvin Hinze, son of Paul Hinze, cut his head with an iron blow and is recovering. Olive Jean Heinsohn sustained a chicken yard accident and required ten stitches on her arm last Thursday.

Hailstorm Wrecks Luling Homes and Crops
A severe late Monday hailstorm in Luling damaged every house and devastated crops for miles. About 20 people were treated for window injuries, livestock and poultry losses occurred, and four and a half inches of rain flooded the northern part of town. Building damage reached 75000 to 100000 dollars, with oil derricks blown down in Bruner field. The power was cut to reduce live wire danger as the storm center passed north.

Auto Crash Injures Rev Blinka and Family in San Antonio
Rev Louis A Blinka of Range Texas and his mother Frances and sister Frances 22 were injured when their car crashed near the Santa Rosa in the 5500 block of South Presa Street Tuesday morning. Officials say accelerator locked causing loss of control as the car circled Osage Distributing, U turned, demolished a fence and plunged six feet to the railway tracks. Rev Blinka suffered a fractured skull internal injuries and severe wounds. Frances Blinka a gashed forehead. Mrs Blinka internal injuries and probable broken ribs. Mrs Blinka and Frances 22 are Shiner residents. Rev Blinka is a known Shiner figure.

Soft Ball Players Gather for City Hall Meeting

Dickson Farmers League meeting grows Dickson branch
The Dickson Branch of the Farmers League met on May 9 with Fred Fehrenkamp of Moulton praising the large female turnout. Lee Sedlmeyer of Shiner lauded the branch’s rapid progress, noting membership rose to 46 with 16 new members. The gathering discussed forming an official organization and 19 subscriptions were taken. Members adjourned for a catered lunch prepared by the women, seen as a positive step for the branch.
