Substitute Debating Triumph By Miss Elgere Herder

In the County meet Miss Elgere Herder substituted for the ill Herman Liebhafsky. She prepared only overnight and Friday, joining Chas Kasper to sustain her case with credit to herself, her school, and her hometown.

Orchestra Meeting Led by Mrs Joe Hughs

The meeting approved and the afternoon study featured an orchestra led by Mrs Joe Hughs. Mrs Wendtland gave a brief talk on orchestra development followed by a recap of prior lessons. The ensemble included Mrs Wplageman first violin and others across violin cello flute clarinet harp trombone bass violin drum. The club adjourned to meet Mrs Ella Moeckel on April 1.

Shiner Fair Committees Convene For Planning

The Shiner Fair committees met on Thursday night March 18 with President EB J Merrem in charge. They discussed speakers from Joe Baik and Pat Neff, funding needs exceeding 200 000, a new goat roping contest and exhibits, and plans for music, concessions, and a potential military band at the fairgrounds. The group also prepared for a Poultry and Hog Auction in Cuero on May 21 22 and adjourned to the next Commercial Club meeting.

Lutherans unite as The United Martin Luther Congregation of Shiner

Last Sunday March 13 the Lutherans of St Pauls Church and St Pauls congregation met to unite and elect trustees. Rev Wolfsdorf chaired as bylaws were read and a new name chosen The United Martin Luther Congregation of Shiner. Trustees elected F Rogge F Sanders F Remmers E Klos termann O W Miller Alfred Bchramm, with F Sanders chairman F Rogge treasurer and F Remmers secretary. Unity makes strength.

Dr Ramsel's private sanitarium notes two recoveries from appendicitis and a tonsil removal. A public meeting at Shiner City Hall on March 26 at 8 pm invites ex-service men to discuss forming an American Legion post.

Mr. Lucas Hucek died last Tuesday at age 61 and was buried Wednesday in the Shiner Catholic Cemetery. The Gazette extends sympathy to the bereaved relatives.

Rudolph Seidenberger dies after influenza at 33

Rudolph Seidenberger of near Shiner died Tuesday evening from influenza and was buried Thursday in Shiner Catholic cemetery. He was 33, married in 1911 to Minnie Haas and leaves six children, six brothers, three sisters, and many relatives. He was a prosperous farmer and is mourned by all who knew him.

Death of Mr Adolph Mueller at 82

Mr Adolph Mueller died at the local hospital on March 16 after a brief illness with influenza. The funeral took place at the home of Mr and Mrs Henry Krueger, burial in Shiner City Cemetery. He was born near Weimar on January 23 1688 and married to Condally Hililscher in 1914. Surviving: his wife four children one sister and six brothers. The Moultor Hage offers sympathy.
