Passes Away After Heart Attack Rep J J Olsen

Rep J J Olsen died after a heart attack on Saturday. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church Yoakum with a large crowd in attendance. Gov W Lee O Daniel attended and praised Olsen’s legislative service and character. Surviving are his wife Magdalene and two sons Henry and John, five grandchildren, a brother Henry Olsen and two sisters. Pallbearers included James Joseph and Steve Olsen.

Judge Motis Dies Sudden at 61 in Yoakum

Judge E J Motis, 61, Yoakum attorney, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home. He was born in Nebraska on January 6, 1869 and moved to Yoakum in 1917. Funeral services were held at Buffington Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Lipps presiding. Survivors include his wife Carrie Motis, daughter Hyacinth Dobbs, a grandson Jerry Dobbs, three sisters, and three brothers.

Theo A Golsch Elected County President Of Farmers League

The Farmers League of Lavaca county elected Theo A Golsch president and Joe A Kouba vice president at a Saturday court house meeting. Leo Ebner became secretary treasurer as plans for a two day Farmers Short Course were set with County Agent King. A legislative committee of J H Elsik and Joe A Kouba was named. compensation five dollars daily in Austin, secretary treasurer salary fifty cents monthly and one cent per member annually. Next mass meeting set for Moravia in early April.

Agnes Motal Dies at Corpus Christi Home

Mrs Agnes Motal aged 81 widow of Frank Motal died at her daughter Ed Petry’s home near Corpus Christi. She was born in Czecho Slovakia in 1858 and came to the United States in 1905. Survived by three sons Louis Henry Joe and two daughters including Ed Petru. Funeral held at Sweet Home Catholic church with interment in the cemetery.

Jupe District Farm Conference At Luling Foundation

The South Texas Chamber of Commerce sponsored a March 17 farm conference at the Luling Foundation Farm. About fifteen hundred F F A boys farmers and business men attended. Talks covered soil conservation and foundation operations including livestock, dairy, poultry and land use. Guests toured the farm and learned about training programs for area youths.
