City Upgrades with New 150 HP Fair Tanks Morris Engine

Shiner installs a 150 HP Fair tanks-Morse Oil Engine at the City Light Plant, adding to a 100 HP engine installed last fall. The combined power boosts heat for irons and electrical "juice" for fans, mills, and motors, including the Shiner Gazette which now runs on electricity. The $11,000 project is borrowed from a city fund and expected to be paid back by light plant income, avoiding taxes.
