Shiner Jaycees Offer Free Tree Seedlings for City Beautification
The Shiner Jaycees are giving away 500 free seedlings including loblolly pine cottonwood and black walnut as part of the Bicentennial Community Beautification Program. Seedlings, received from the Texas Forest Service, will be available Friday March 12 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday March 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Shiner Jaycee Hall next to Post Cafe.

Old Timers Baseball OTBA Seventh Reunion Planned
Plans are set for the seventh annual Old Timers Baseball Association reunion on Sunday March 21 1976 at Blases Place Highway 90A between Shiner and Hallettsville. Darlene Ann Syamken Injured In 2 Car Wreck
Miss Darlene Ann Syamken daughter of Mr and Mrs Elton Syamken of Shiner was seriously injured in a two vehicle collision about 10 PM Wednesday March 3 at East Gonzales Street and Highway 111 in Yoakum. She suffered a fractured left leg dislocated shoulder and multiple cuts and bruises. She was taken to Citizens Memorial Hospital in Victoria and is in Room 519 with injuries requiring several weeks of hospitalization.
