Charley's Aunt played three days fill weekend at Gaslight Theatre in Shiner from March 5 to 7. Bobby Aschenbeck led a strong cast as the crossdressed aunt with Carol Beal and Tim and David Janecek delivering sharp timing in Brandon Thomas's 1892 farce about mistaken identity and chaperone schemes.

Spirit of ’76 Art Show at Legion Park Sunday

Rotary sponsored event showcases three sections at Legion Park on March 21. Nationally known artist Jimmy Walker of Waelder will headline a one man exhibition. Forty artists compete for cash prizes in oil and acrylic works while about 100 student pieces from Shiner schools are shown for ribbons.

Baseball Tryouts Scheduled For Shiner Clippers

The Shiner Clippers will hold their first workout of the 1976 season Sunday March 14 at 1 00 p m at the Green Dickson baseball park. Local players are urged to attend. An exhibition game is set for Sunday March 21 with league play starting April 25 after the Shiner Clipper Baseball Tournament April 3 4 and 10 11.

Shiner Jaycees Offer Free Tree Seedlings for City Beautification

The Shiner Jaycees are giving away 500 free seedlings including loblolly pine cottonwood and black walnut as part of the Bicentennial Community Beautification Program. Seedlings, received from the Texas Forest Service, will be available Friday March 12 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday March 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Shiner Jaycee Hall next to Post Cafe.

Old Timers Baseball OTBA Seventh Reunion Planned

Plans are set for the seventh annual Old Timers Baseball Association reunion on Sunday March 21 1976 at Blases Place Highway 90A between Shiner and Hallettsville. Registration 130 pm program 230 pm meal 430 pm with catering by Blase Konvicka Czech pastries. Admission 225 for meal and entertainment plus 100 for OTBA membership total 325. Moulton Rockets 1975 SCTAL champions will be hosted and a Hall of Fame induction will occur. Memorial service for South Texas baseball figures and Joe Strauss Pivo Boys will provide music. Darlene Ann Syamken Injured In 2 Car Wreck

Miss Darlene Ann Syamken daughter of Mr and Mrs Elton Syamken of Shiner was seriously injured in a two vehicle collision about 10 PM Wednesday March 3 at East Gonzales Street and Highway 111 in Yoakum. She suffered a fractured left leg dislocated shoulder and multiple cuts and bruises. She was taken to Citizens Memorial Hospital in Victoria and is in Room 519 with injuries requiring several weeks of hospitalization.

Dr. David R. Tauch announces the opening of his eye clinic at 305 St. Lawrence Street in Gonzales. A Flatonia High School graduate, he attended the University of Texas and the University of Houston, served as a US Army captain, and practiced in San Marcos before moving to Gonzales.
