Fire Damages Tex Tan Belt Factory in Yoakum
A night smoldering fire discovered at 6 45 a m Wednesday March 10 heavily damaged the Tex Tan Welhausen belt manufacturing plant near Yoakum Municipal Airport. The 300 to 400 foot long building suffered heat and smoke damage throughout and losses may reach several hundred thousand dollars. All 150 workers will be reassigned to other plants until repairs and reopening.
