Longtime Shiner Resident Mr Koch Dies at 90
Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. marked the passing of one of Shiner's oldest citizens Mr Koch born August 14 1833 in Polhoven Hanover. He married Wilhelmina Cordes in 1868 and lived in Fayette County Swiss Alps Ammansville Lavaca County before settling in Shiner. Survived by daughter Anna four sons Earnest Herman C Yoakum William and Anna and six grandchildren. Funeral held at family home with Rev H C Bierman of First Lutheran officiating.

Surprise Birthday for Marguerite Schindler Ends With Piano Gift
Mr and Mrs Charles Schindler hosted a surprise party last Saturday for their daughter Marguerite on her seventeenth birthday. The highlight was a piano given by the parents. Guests played 42 and checkers, enjoyed cards, cake, and punch. Lona Catherine Richter and Elton J. Wessels wed at a private six o’clock ceremony at the bride’s home read by Rev. Biermann. The couple left for Houston after the vows and will reside there. The bride is the elder Rich ter daughter, a Shiner graduate who studied voice at Baylor. the groom has many local friends.
