Six Enter Baseball Loop Organizes For 1960 Season

South Central Texas Amateur League members from six clubs met at the Weimar fire station to map the 1960 season. Plans call for a 14 game schedule with two four three playoff format if eight clubs are in, or 15 games with two four three semis and three five finals if only six clubs enter. Forty Hours Devotions At Shiner Catholic Parish

Fort y Hours Devotion begins Friday morning March 4 at 6 o clock Mass and ends Sunday night with 7 30 devotions. Devotions run Friday Saturday and Sunday at 7 30 p m. Confessions offered Friday and Saturday 4 to 6 p m and after devotions each night.

Thousands attended the funeral for Dr Louis B S Richter a Yoakum physician who died February 27 at 1 00 am at his home 408 Coke Street He was 49 years old born January 26 1911 in Shiner educated at Schreiner Kerrville UT Austin UT Medical School Galveston and served in Yoakum since 1937 Interment was at Oak Grove Cemetery Holy Cross Lutheran Church officiated by Rev D I Dalton and Dr Paul Bechter Pallbearers listed The late physician was active in Masonic Lodge Shriners Lions Club and DeWitt County Medical Society The service drew hundreds of mourners and flowers filled the church and annex the same day proceedings honored a life of service to family friends and community.
