Patriotic Day events in Shiner feature a parade at 10 a.m. with chicken barbecue band music and two evening dances. Community memorials note L G Fiedler burial in Schulenberg after a life spent in High Hill Dreyer Hamshire and Port Arthur with survivors listed.
Judge Paul Fertsch reported Lavaca County has 5088 T B X rays. The tally suggests 103 possible T B cases with 52 chest trouble cases but no confirmed T B.
Mrs Delmar Laas on a ranch outside the city limits saved two year old Delmaring with CPR and back blows after Elaine age 3 called that the child was in a water trough. She lacked a phone and car and neighbors were distant during the emergency.
August Kubecka Sr. was discharged from a local hospital after a tractor overturn left him with broken ribs and minor injuries. He was rescued with help from his wife, neighbors, and relatives after being knocked unconscious on June 20 while working on his farm near Shiner.
Gins across the area undergo major overhauls for the 1950 cotton harvest. E G Buske’s firm advances a double tower cleaning system to process cotton gently. Henkhaus Kasper Kubicek Farmers Co op and others report extensive repairs, new saws ribs and condensers, aiming for high turnout and clean bales.

Mr and Mrs A E Utsey and son Auston E return to their former home in Oklahoma City Tuesday. Mr Utsey plans to open an undertaking establishment in partnership with his brother. While with Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner they formed many sincere friendships. residents express regret at their move.
Funeral services were held for John F Walleck at Buffington Funeral Home Shiner then Sts Cyril and Methodius Church with Rev John Wagner presiding Interment followed at Shiner Catholic Cemetery He died June 19 in San Antonio at age 75 5 months 18 days Born December 31 1874 in Czechoslovakia to later settle in Weimar and Gonzales He is survived by Katherine Mikes Walleck widow six children and 19 grandchildren with several siblings deceased or living in Texas
Lavaca County hosts a Brush Eradication and Pasture Improvement Day at James R. Ragsdale's ranch on July 6 from 10:00. Demonstrations include Caldwell brush cutter and weed cutter, grass identification contest, and range management discussions. All veterans marching in the parade report at the Post Office Tuesday morning wearing their caps. The Hobo Band marching veterans and the Nordheim Band assemble at Temple Lumber Co to Boehm Motor Sales then to the Lutheran Church where the children's parade will await.
The Shiner High School Band will assemble on the lawn of the Lutheran Church before joining the Kid Die Parade. They will fall in when the Veterans and Nordheim Band pass, then complete a short four block route to the park.
Community members are urged to leave donations of pickles onions potatoes and eggs at Hajek's Market before Monday. The notice also encourages generous support for veterans to help ensure a successful patriotic observance.
