Lima City of the Kings and Its Historic Plaza Mayor
Lima rests in a valley shaped by the Rimac River near Callao with San Cristobal and San Jeronimo dominating the skyline. The Plaza Mayor anchors a bustling center where Pizarro laid cathedral stones and independence was proclaimed in 1821, while the Torre-Tagle mansion and the Inquisition-era senate chamber symbolize a rich colonial heritage.
