100 Sacks of U S Mail Lost by Fire in France

The Post Office Department reports that on the night of April 25 about 10 o clock roughly 100 sacks of mail were burned in France. The contents were mainly parcel post and prints from the Southern States for the 16th and 18th Infantry 5th 6th and 7th Field Artillery. The fire site was temporary and may have been caused by a cigarette stump.
