Plymouth Oil Co reports spudding begun on Fehrenkamp No 1 six miles from Shiner with participants from Moulton Hallettsville and Shiner. Depth reached 3052 feet and signs of oil observed but not enough to justify testing at this stage.

The Blue Bonnet Music Club met Friday evening June 16 at Francis Elaine Wagner's starting 7 30 PM with roll call and minutes read. Three visitors attended and the program featured Verdi Aida Grand March Strauss Waltzes and Spalding pieces. refreshments followed as children played outside and reporter Mrs Joe Boehm praised Shiner while noting a theft epidemic in Sealy and a recovered Essex Super 6 after a 2000 mile drive and major repairs.
The Business Men's Club meets tonight at 7:30 p m for the last June regular meeting. Lunch will be served at the Royal Café and June dues are due.

Rev Don Dulaney will fill the pulpit at the Methodist church next Sunday night at 8 15 for his regular fourth Sunday appointment.

J H Huebner reports he received a call from Austin urging all Antis to attend a State Mass meeting on Tuesday June 27 to select delegates to the State Convention on Repeal of the 18th Amendment. Indications pointed to a large Prohibitionist turnout and Antis were urged to come out in force.
The Catholic Parish of Shiner hosts a feast and bazaar at Bluecher Park next Sunday June 25 with dinner starting at 11 a.m. Admission to table is 25 cents for adults and 15 cents for children. Amusements refreshments and music on grounds. Proceeds benefit the Archdiocese orphanage. Committee.
Immanuel Lathran Church invites worshipers to a Sunday service at 10 30 a m with a confirmation class at 9 30. Those wishing to join the class may speak with Pastor A Bohot who will be at the church at 9 a m.
The Musical Millers of Hearts Delight Flour troupe will perform for a dance at Bluecher Park next Wednesday night June 28 sponsored by the Business Men's Club. Admission is 25 cents for gentlemen and 10 cents for ladies with proceeds benefiting the Community Chest. Also reported is the birth of Barbara Lynn to Dr and Mrs D Q Scheffler in Nordheim on June 19. A Zane Grey tale, Wild Horse Mesa, shown at the Palace Theatre Friday and Saturday.
A notice for the Green Community canning group announces the next demonstration will be July 14 at Mrs John Behlen s home. It also states there is no meeting on June 23 and notes reporter R B Kroulik is on a quiet vacation.
Local officials including Mayor Richter and Chamber leaders traveled to Cuero to hear W E L Stephens of the Texas Rehabilitation and Relief Commission. Shiner residents urged quick action on survey forms for project funding, with Lavaca County committees named and streets water works and school needs to be financed. The campaign aims to move families from relief to payrolls while Texas allocates 250 million and Lavaca around 1.5 million for roads and local projects.
The First National Bank of Shiner announces new Yale Day and Night Time Locks to protect funds during daytime robberies. Installed by Yale and Towne Manufacturing Company, the bank states it is the only bank in the area to offer this additional protection for patrons.
Shiner Chapter No 272 held its regular meeting last Tuesday night to install officers. Worthy Matron Mrs Tommie Amsler and Worthy Patron Walter Schmidt were among the newly installed officers. The chapter now counts 57 members. Ella E Lane served as installing officer with Mae Hughs as marshal.
Following the devotional hour at the Methodist Sunday School, the Women's Wesley Bible Class held its annual election of officers. Mrs Gus Wolters was elected president with Mrs V E Schulze as recording secretary, Mrs Victor Stindt as secretary treasurer, Mrs Ella E Lane as teacher, and Miss Mabel Merrem as assistant.
Radio entertainers donate services to play for a community dance at Bluecher Park on Bar gain Day. All welcome even if not dancing. Admission 25 cents for gentlemen and 10 cents for ladies.
Miss Louise Novak R. N. returns home after earning her diploma from Santa Rosa Infirmary and passing the State Board credentials to become a registered nurse. Also notes Miss Mable Merrem is home.
