Lutheran VCS Open House Friday June 17

Vacation Church School at United Dr. Martin Luther Church concluded with 92 children and 27 teachers and helpers. Parents night and open house are scheduled for Friday at 7:30 p.m. A brief program on Jesus and the Church will be followed by viewing student work and refreshments. Public invited.

Clint Hull Funeral Rites Held In Gonzales

Funeral services for Clint Hull were conducted Saturday at the Full Gospel Church in Gonzales. He died Thursday morning in Holmes Memorial Hospital after several months illness. Burial followed at Stonewall Cemetery with Buffington Funeral Home in charge. Survivors include his wife Bertha May Lyman and three sons, plus a brother.

Rainout forces doubleheader for men’s softball on Thursday

Hospital Gets Medicare Approval for Local Facility

The Board of Trustees received a May 24 1966 notification of Medicare approval for the Dr Frank M Wagner Memorial Hospital enabling eligible residents to access hospital care locally. Construction of a new wing is progressing satisfactorily with early completion anticipated.

Impressive Rites In Big Spring For Patricia Hartman

Last rites were held for seven year old Patricia Hartman at Nalley Pickle Rosewood Chapel Big Spring with a Lutheran minister officiating Burial followed at Big Spring City Cemetery Pallbearers were Ralph Spence Raymond Maeker Marvin Hartman and Douglas Wallace The funeral notes Patricia died after being struck by a car while following her sister across the street on May 30 She was born January 24 1959 daughter of Emmett and Irene Hartman Survivors include her parents six sisters and three brothers with relatives from Shiner and Moulton expressing condolences An obituary line recalled the belief that God gives life and takes it away and wished the family strength in their sorrow

Mrs. Ed F. Busch nee Adeline Herder died June 11 1966 at age 84 years 11 months after a long life in Shiner community. Survived by three grandchildren five great grandchildren two sisters and one brother plus two daughters in law. Native Texan Theo C Buesing laid to rest at 77

Theodore Christian Buesing born August 26 1888 near Hallettsville Texas. He married Minnie Hirsch on October 10 1916 and had three children Gertrude Sam Walter Oscar. Survivors include his children nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. He lived in Shiner after retirement in 1951 and died June 10 1966 at Trinity Lutheran Home. Funeral services were held at United Dr. Martin Luther Church in Shiner with burial in Shiner City Cemetery.

Parents of children turning six and starting school in September are urged to enroll in Shiner Independent School Districts Pre School Program open to Shiner Public Schools and St Ludmila Academy beginning students. Mobile X-Ray Unit to Visit Shiner on Friday June 17

The Alamo Area TB Association mobile X-ray unit will visit Shiner Friday June 17 at Legion Park, open 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Admission is 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for ages 15 to 18, with no one refused for inability to pay. X-ray reports for negatives will not be sent. positives trigger contact with a physician and reports to health authorities. Local groups coordinate the visit with the Blue Ladies assisting.
