United Dr. Martin Luther Church announces a busy week with a 9 a m Sunday School and 10 a m German Divine Service. Dietze Rites Held Monday in Cuero

Hundreds of Cuero and De Witt county residents attended the last rites for Ed. Dietze a Cuero dairy man who died Sunday after a heart attack. Services were held at his home and St. Mark's Lutheran church with interment in Hillside cemetery. He was born May 24 1878 in Cuero and survived by wife Pauline Kunitz four children seven grandchildren and several siblings and in laws. Funeral directions were by Freund Funeral Home.

Father of Mrs C C Welhausen Dies After Illness

Luther Walker McBride aged 65 died June 8 at 7 15 am in Huth Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born near Pleasant Hill Missouri December 10 1875 he worked for the Kansas City Southern Railroad rising to Terminal Superintendent. Married May 1 1900 to Mises Flora McNatt two daughters Mrs Carl C Welhausen and grandchildren Mary Katherine and Mildred Jean Welhausen survive along with siblings and many relatives. Funeral services were held at the Welhausen home with Masonic and Knights Templar honors at Oak Grove cemetery.

Nine to Be Ordained to Priesthood in San Antonio

Nine men will be ordained to the priesthood in San Antonio on June 12. Rev. Hubert J. Janak of Wied will celebrate his First Solemn Mass at St. Mary's on June 15 with family ties to Mrs. August Janak and Rev. Jos. Pustka. A second First Solemn Mass will be held in Koerth on June 22 for Rev. E. A. Hermes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Hermes.

Arnold C. Apts son of Mr and Mrs Robt Apts died Friday June 6 at 1130 pm after illness from pneumonia. Miss Ladell Merrem Undergoes Appendix Operation

Miss Ladell Merrem of Yoakum underwent an appendicitis operation at the local hospital Sunday evening. Her condition is reported as satisfactory. Her grandmother Mrs. Dittmar, also a patient there, is well on the way to recovery.

Doctor Leon Kopecky Undergoes Appendicitis Surgery

Dr Leon C Kopecky a member of the medical staff at M and S Hospital San Antonio was operated on for appendicitis last Thursday night and his condition was critical for days. Latest word from his bedside is more encouraging and friends hope for a complete recovery.

Mrs Ludwig Pokluda Dies After Long Illness at 60

Following several months of intense pain Mrs. Ludwig Pokluda died June 5 at the local hospital at age 60. The funeral was held June 8 at 8 15 AM from the family home near Charlottenburg with Requiem High Mass at Shiner Catholic Church. Monsignor L P Netardus officiated, Rev E Bily delivered the sermon and burial was in Catholic Cemetery. Surviving are husband Ludwig and ten children: Steve Paul John Alois of Shiner Joseph of Cuero Frances of Corpus Christi Hedwig Amalie Mary at home. two sisters Mrs John Valis Sr and Mrs Jacob Patek. five brothers Rudolph Adolf Jerome Joe Mike Siegel. two grandchildren. The deceased, born in Czechoslovakia, came to America at age two and lived in St Mary’s community before moving near Shiner. She was a member of St Mary’s and the Shiner Lodge No 3 K J Z T Society.

Obituary of Hugo J Striebeck in Witting community

Hugo J Striebeck aged 48 years 8 months 8 days died at Wagner Hospital after weeks of suffering. He was a lifelong Witting resident, member of the Lutheran Church and Rose of Prairie Insurance, married to Oulie Koch. Surviving are his wife, father, two sisters, and a nephew. funeral held at Geo. Three Year Old Patek Hurt After Street Crossing

Robert James Patek, 3, son of Mr and Mrs Jos Patek, sustained a fractured leg and foot lacerations with five stitches after being struck by a car in Houston last Friday. He was crossing with his parents and grandfather when he darted into traffic. He received care at St Joseph's Hospital and was sent home the next day, bed confined but improving.
