Rural Sanitation Program Set For Charlottenburg School
The State Department of Health with Extension Service and Chamber of Commerce plan a rural sanitation campaign in Lavaca County to fight malaria and typhoid. A committee led by Adolf Richter and county officials will host a mosquito proofing demonstration at Charlottenburg School on June 16, with health officials present to explain prevention and costs.

Narrow escape for J. C. Blohm in tom mix roadster plunge
J C Blohm faced a dramatic mishap near the Hochheim river bridge when a flock of turkeys caused him to brake hard and the car tumbled through the railing down a fifty foot embankment toward the river. The vehicle broke apart near a ditch, leaving him scratched but uninjured aside from torn clothes and unbroken spectacles. Passers by aided his return home while locals speculated he had drowned. In Gonzales, friends and relatives later confirmed his safe return. Funeral attendees for Mrs Vernon Miller included Mrs A Brosch and Miss Lorene, among others. Miller had been formerly Anita Gies tner.

Plymouth Oil Spuds Fehrenkamp No 1 Near Shiner
Citizens from Shiner Moulton and Hallettsville witnessed the spudding in of Fehrenkamp No 1 six miles from Shiner. The well reached 115 feet by Monday noon with no drilling Tuesday due to sandy soil absorbing water for drilling. The 120 foot derrick serves Plymouth Oil Co drilling by Al Buchanan with day and night crews and electric lighting.

Fisherman Finds Shell-Covered Iron Kettle Relic
Messrs Peck Welhausen and son Glade, Paul Berkenhoff, and John Valenta found a half of an antique iron kettle on Indianola last Sunday. The vessel, now encrusted with shell and sea growth, was exposed by a strong tidal pull and drew several observers at the First National Bank. Described as a pretty curious treasure, it evokes the old rainbow bargain saying and was linked to a forthcoming Bargain Day on the fourth Wednesday.

Summer School for Shiner pupils to make up work
Shiner Public School invites students who failed to meet the passing average last year to a make up session next Monday morning June 12 at about 8 o clock at the school.
