Yoakum Tom-Tom Celebration Opens Tomorrow
Yoakum hosts its sixth annual Tom-Tom celebration with a full two days of events. A children's novelty parade kicks off Friday at 9 80 morning followed by rodeo at 10 and a Coronation Pageant at 7 p m with King Tom Tom and Queen Ceres. A street dance and Coronation Ball close Friday, then Trades Day and more rodeo on Saturday. Junior Coronation Pageant at 10 Saturday morning. tomato exhibits prize judging for size and shape. Visitors are assured of a royal time.

Bunjes community students entertained a large audience with No Account David on May 15. Oil Derrick Rises Near Shiner In Big Drill Drive
Shiner residents report heavy traffic of oil equipment en route to the Charlottenburg area about six miles away. A private contract erected and completed a derrick by Monday noon, with spudding expected by next Tuesday for a 4000 foot well. Bargain Day Brings Mixed Fortunes to Town
Last Wednesday's Bargain Day drew a smaller crowd and slow trading in the town while crops suffered from unseasonable winds. A following day’s rain improved crop outlook and Saturday saw a large crowd and better trading. Catholic parishioners held special prayers Monday, and Thursday’s rain blessed the area.
Bargain Days to Continue Save for Business Men's Club
The Business Men's Club held a 7:30 p m meeting at the Shiner Cafe with a chicken supper. Reports praised Mother’s Day program and canning demonstration work. Bargain Day was approved to continue indefinitely. An invitation from O S T Meyer to serve barbecue at the next meeting on June 8 was accepted. 21 members attended despite heavy rain last Thursday forcing an indoor meeting at the Shiner Cafe.
