Cost Of Bad Roads Costs Motorists A Tax On Gas

Experiments show bad roads cost motorists about 22.3 cents per gallon. At 10 miles per gallon on poor roads and 33 mph, gasoline and tire costs per 1000 miles reach 3510 dollars for a loaded four cylinder car, versus 1280 dollars on smooth highways. Road oils increasingly convert unsatisfactory roads into modern highways.

Gas connection completed brings Shiner to modern gas supply

On Thursday night July 12 the city council and Southwest Gas Co officials lit a torch signaling Shiner’s link to the Yoakum Gonzales line from White Point and Refugio gas fields. The Dixie Gas and Fuel Co. of Houston, fed from Louisiana fields, also connects. The Spoetzi Brewery and Ice Factory and Purity Creamery were among first to receive gas, with residents soon cooking by gas as the town moves toward a modern city convenience.

Gas Fueled Refrigerator Car Demonstrated In Test

A new gas fired refrigerator car was tested successfully with heat supplied from a pressure tank under the car. Starting with a load of frozen fish at eight degrees above zero, the temperature fell to minus fourteen after eleven days, showing progress in gas powered cooling and its growing usefulness.
