Vine W Bednar died Friday between three and four in the morning after nearly two years of ill health. Born April 16 1861 in Cermna Bohemia he came to America in 1893 living in Flatonia then Praha before settling over 30 years in Shiner as a furniture maker. Survived by wife five of seven children Lillie Motal A J Bednar Annie Halamicek Robert and Vlasta Marburger and 18 grandchildren. funeral from the family home to Catholic church with burial in Catholic cemetery Father Netardus officiated. Bednar was a member of the C S P S Lodge. Pallbearers named. extensions of sympathy to the bereaved.

Dedication of the New Schoolhouse at Oak Grove
The Oak Grove dedication on Sunday July 15 1928 begins at 10 AM with a march of school children from the teacherage to the schoolhouse. Hon J F Bozka gives the opening address at 11 followed by a barbecue and stew dinner for 35 cents adults and 15 cents children. A bazaar, afternoon events, and political speakers are planned with concert music, a dance, and dancing to Michnas Orchestra. All are invited.

Death of Mrs A Pfeander in Chicago shocks Shiner community
News reached Shiner Sunday of the death of Mrs. A Pfeander in Chicago the previous night after a fall from her back porch on July 5. She suffered a broken back and paralysis, passing away Saturday night. Survived by her blind husband, a daughter Mrs Martha Potts of Tulsa, another daughter Miss Ida Pfeender who has died, and three sons Adolf Willie and Gus in Chicago. Funeral held at their Chicago home. Condolences extended to the bereaved in Shiner.

Young Boy Bitten by Rattlesnake Near Garfield
Master Julius Remmers, six year old son of Mr and Mrs Julius Remmers of Garfield, was bitten twice on the leg by a rattlesnake around sunset last Thursday. He was rushed to Yorktown for prompt treatment at Dr Eckhardt Hospital and is now near well. He and an older brother were tending stock at Charlie Dowlearns place when the incident happened.
