It also notes Mrs Sophia Amsler visiting San Antonio relatives Miss Mary Younkin of Yoakum visiting Miss Isabel Daniels, and Mrs Victor Wolters with son Max Jr and Miss Ella Ehlers leaving Monday for San Antonio.
Illness has confined Steve Bnvett to his room for over two weeks, hindering personal campaigning for re election as Lavaca County tax collector. He thanks supporters, pledges faithful service if elected, and asks for continued votes and backing. The notice also mentions the program Tomorrow night Returning of Rosalia at the Opera House.
Quiet satisfaction spreads among close students as the Democratic National Convention closes. Cox strengths and loyalty backed by party leaders appear to have blocked administration pressure and shifted Texas voters toward Bailey in governor races. Bailey’s vindication suggests Cox may win nationally with a Texas Bailey victory anticipated locally.
O W Miller traded his 244 acre Wied farm to F H Gerdes of Hocheim Prairie for 29290 and took in trade Gerdes 70 acre farm at Hocheim Prairie valued at 10500. Gerdes and family will move to their new property this fall.
Mrs O W Mewes hosted a Saturday afternoon farewell for Mrs D C Daniels from 4 to 6. Albert Kornfuehrer, 19, reportedly shot himself with a 22 caliber rifle at his father's Me yersville area home shortly after being released on bail for forgery charges. He was a Cuero resident and son of farmer Henry Kornfuehrer. The death occurred about two hours after the act.
By virtue of mayoral power in Shiner the city calls an election at City Hall on July 27 1920 to fill the unexpired term of O G Blohm. F R Mergenthaler will serve as election presiding officer with KE Rank mayor and J M Canon secretary.
