Mr and Mrs Ed Menke and sisters Josie Mary and Clara of Victoria and brother OJ from Akron Ohio visit Mrs G F Siens and family during their trip.
Mrs. Clara Gordon assistant deputy Grand Matron of San Antonio paid an official visit to Shiner Chapter No. 272 Order of Eastern Star on July 13. She praised the chapter and was hosted by Worthy Matron Miss Ernestine Mergenthaler. The group enjoyed refreshments at Jurg Beezer’s ice crew parlor, a city ride, a six o’clock dinner, and a picture show party at the air dome with several members in attendance.
A July 23 8 PM Welhausen Park affair hosted by the Civic League offers music dancing and refreshments. Attractions include Foxy Minstrel Wheel of Chance The Paris Beauty and a county best developed baby contest with a Spanish dancer and a menagerie for entertainment.
The Camp Fire Girls presented a successful play featuring Isabel Daniels as Rosalia and a large cast including Mina, Ia, Vivien Price, Viola Martin and Elvera Herder. The performance included dramatic rescues from the Romani, lively dances by Jamie Lewis of Waco, and musical numbers by Mrs. Hughes Stella Wolters and others, with Mrs. Ella Lane and Miss Christa Moeckel coordinating efforts.
Mrs Anton Bleier expresses gratitude for support during illness at Dr Ramsel Sanitarium. Special thanks go to Rev F X Wolf and assistant Rev Sikora, the Sisters of the Convent, and the friend who brought flowers to her sick bed.
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Gardier Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Girdien Jr. with baby Francis Elizabeth visited the editor’s home in Gonzales on Sunday afternoon.
Saturday afternoon about forty Camp Fire Girls and guests joined for a farewell supper at the forks of the creek for Isabel Daniels a charter member and active figure. A watermelon feast and lighting of the fire followed with wishes that the flame light her new home. Rites included ra hs for Isabel and Alice before most attendees went to a movie. Mrs Ed Kurtz family of San Antonio joined Mrs Barbara Schmidt and others for a trip to San Antonio after the event.

Mr and Mrs Wm Wendtland Jr and son Mrs S A Thulemeyer Miss Louise Mrs Wendtland Sr were week end visitors to Seguin.
The death of Mrs. Mary J. Barkett, a pioneer Gonzales County woman aged 77, is reported. The funeral was held Tuesday from B. C Neighbors’ home, with interment at Hocheim Cemetery.
Miss Ella Schram hosted the XXth Century Club on July 15 with a short business session. The club donated ten dollars to the Rest Room and planned a minstrel for Civic Carnival. A two course luncheon followed with musical numbers by Mrs. Joe Hughes and Miss Stella Wolters.
The regular Democratic primary for state and county officers will be held Saturday July 24 at both Shiner voting boxes. A precinct convention will elect delegates to the county convention. J C BLOHM.
