Herman A. Strauss, a Cat Spring general merchant for 35 years, died of a heart attack in Bellville Hospital on July 2 1967 at age 81. Funeral services were held July 4 at Pete E. Historical marker planned for victims of Indians at Shiner meet
Lavaca County Historical Survey Committee met in Shiner to approve a five foot memorial marker to honor county settlers slain by Indians. The R. J. Pesek Monument Works will erect the marker for 295 dollars in Hallettsville Memorial Park with dedication date to be announced.

Rites for John Richard Bennett 26 of Route 2 Yoakum were held at Buffington Funeral Home with Rev W W Connally presiding. He died after a collision near Cuero on Sunday night while driving on US 87.
