Shiner Hardware Company completed a purchase from Shiner Electric Supply Company on July 1. The full stock and equipment moved Monday from the Opera House corner into the Shiner building and an electric department was added. Eli Willman will oversee the new department.
Ford Sport Coupe offered by Smith Motor Company Gonzales Texas attractively priced with terms. Separate item notes a July 4 barbecue hosted by Welhausen family with a reunion including Philip Welhausen Melba and other relatives from Gonzales Yoakum Waco Victoria Shiner and Shiner area.
Miss Anne Berkenhoff hosted the Bachelorette Club last Monday from 3 to 5 pm. Zinnias decorated the living room where 38 tables of players were entertained with a lunch of salad cakes sandwiches and iced tea. High score among guests was awarded to Mrs. J J Schultz. Members included Miss Gertrude Kasper and Miss Selma Rogge. Guests included Miss Earline Florine Berkenhoff Allene Brauner Mrs E A Dreyer E Bacon Berkenhoff and Mrs J J Schultz.

The Catholic Parish of Shiner will hold a picnic and bazaar next Sunday July 13 at Bluecher Park. A good noon dinner will be served with political speaking, music, refreshments and amusements for all. Committee invites friends to attend.
John E. Rabel, former district principal and May term completer at Schertz, called at our office last week with his wife. He has been at A. and M. College since June working toward an agricultural administration degree and plans to continue next term.

Wilbert Kaspar arrived Sunday from Dallas to spend his vacation under the parental roof, joining family at their residence for a period of rest and family time.

Lillian and Joyce Barrow are visiting relatives in Victoria, highlighting a family trip with planned gatherings and local sightseeing around the city.

The 1930 31 Shiner Public Schools high school faculty is listed with names and credentials. T. H. Leslie serves as superintendent with a B A from Southwestern Texas. W C Jones is principal with B A and M A and University of Missouri graduate. Faculty also includes Mabel Merrem English, George Mitchell Butte math Latin, Alf Christian commercial, and intermediate and primary teachers Mrs Leslie Miss Leibetter Mrs Brosch Miss Reischl Miss Tomlinson Miss Kasper Mrs Garbade.
Chas Sain and son Walter visited Austin last week. Mr Sain reports extra fine crops along the route. See Jack Holt in the role of a daring aviator at the Palace Theatre Sunday and Monday.
Saunders Richter was a San Antonio visitor Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Elton Wessels of Houston visited the L. B. Richter home last week. Paul Koenig, Mrs. M. Vogel sang and Miss Virginia were recent visitors to New Braunfels. Mr. and Mrs. Elo Westers enjoy an automobile vacation tour over Southwest Texas and Mexico.
Mr and Mrs Vance Percy of Austin to move in with Mr and Mrs Aug Rogge. Percy will assist with Rogge gin at Midway and run the local wood yard. Community welcomes the young couple hoping for a pleasant and profitable stay.
Rev. J. C. A. Pfenninger and his family are spending their vacation in Kerrville, staying at a local residence and enjoying the hill country.

Farmers are informed that cattle sheep and hogs will be shipped on July 14 the second Monday in July. Those with shipments should notify Leo Hubner Frank Tassler Jr or Herman Caka at least six days prior.
Mrs. T. M. Letbetter is again at home after a visit to Port Arthur.
In a chat with Commissioner Dock Burkett the highway 109 route from Shiner to Yoakum is now open with no detour required via Midway. Burkett said highway 72 from Worthington to Hallettsville is 20 days from opening and drainage from Mustang Creek to Yoakum Road District 1 is complete with dirt work on the project finishing in about 60 days.
At noon last Thursday a gasoline truck owned by Adolf Lichey caught fire near the Oil Mill. John Valenta used a hand extinguisher to subdue the blaze after Lichey, who had just refilled the tank, discovered leakage and heat. No injuries or damage beyond the vehicle were reported.
About a dozen Model T and V eight Ford trucks from 1924 to 1927 are in extra good shape with good rubber. The dealer states these are the biggest bargains and will sell quickly at the asking price. E T Merrem of San Antonio is visiting his brother E J Merrem.
Judge Aug Janssen visited the Gazette office Saturday while interviewing voters in the section. He was a pleasant caller during the visit.

Sydonia Bohman and Edgar Bohman of Stockdale travel to Shiner to visit relatives.
Bay City Tribune reports a zone meeting of Methodist ladies held in Newgulf with district participation. Guest Mrs. W H Plageman of Shiner visited Mrs. Carey Smith during the event.

Mrs C L Williams is visiting relatives in Longview as part of a family trip. She plans to stay several days and visit local relatives and friends in the area.
Miss Alf Christian attending summer school at San Marcos was a weekend guest of Miss Ollie Letbetter. She has rented an apartment from Mrs. Wm Dziewas for the school term and will be joined next year by her mother.
