The largest Texas editors group at Corpus Christi joined Robstown in a 15 mile caravan to a chicken barbecue at the Plaza Hotel. The visit highlighted Robstown’s growth from 948 in 1920 to 4210, with a new city spirit, substantial schools, churches, and civic projects.
The regular monthly Parent-Teachers Association meeting will be on Thursday July 9 at 4 oclock in the new City Hall. Mrs Edwin Wolters serves as president. Mrs Earl Fry has returned from Boling to her new apartment at Mrs W O Mewes home.
Cattle sheep and hog shipments are scheduled for the second Monday in July the 14th. Anyone with items to ship must notify Leo Hubner Frank Tassler Jr or Herman Caka six days prior.
The regular meeting of Shiner Chapter No. 272 is scheduled for next Tuesday night July 8. All members especially officers not yet installed are urged to attend. Mrs Ernst Hajek and W M Jimmy Collins of Dallas were weekend guests of Mrs Wm D Green. Mrs Clyde Hepler returned from a visit to her mother and California relatives.
The chamber of commerce announces its regular monthly meeting to be held this Thursday. Members are urged to attend and participate in the session.

Preaching services at the Shiner Baptist church next Sunday with a morning service at 11 o clock and a night service at 8 o'clock. H G Fraser is pastor. All business houses will close tomorrow July 4 on account of Independence Day. Shoppers urged to plan purchases accordingly.
Hallettsville boosters with the American Legion arrived to rally Shiner residents for the 4th annual Independence Day Celebration. County Clerk Joe Bozka led the enthusiastic push as the Hudgins Post sponsors the parade at 11 AM Friday and ongoing entertainment all day, ending with a grand dance that night.
Rudy Hurta and his family have returned home from Corpus Christi, resuming daily life after their trip to the coastal city.
A wire from the local station announces a Monday June 30 change to the Lockhart Branch schedule. The morning Lockhart train arrives 10 53, departs for Yoakum, returns to Shiner 11 52. It eliminates an afternoon train to Shiner, disrupts mail passenger and express service from San Antonio Corpus Cuero and intermediates. Houston arrivals face no wait Yoakum connection ends spend the night. from Corpus no connection. Travel from Hallettsville improves with faster service to Shiner.
One of the largest attendance records in Yoakum District Ginners Association history gathered at Bluecher Park for the 14th annual session. Officers were elected with Theo Rogge of Shiner as president and J C Thompson of Corpus Christi presenting a life membership to longtime secretary Trautwein. Shiner was chosen as next year’s meeting home, with officials praising the town for hosting and vowing continued district progress.
A Sterling County Governor Club was formed Monday afternoon in Hallettsville with H. J. Heye as county chairman and Chas Fer tsch as secretary. Eight vice chairmen were named for each precinct. J. C. Blohm chairs Shiner precinct, with a large crowd present including a delegation from Moulton. Runk and J. C. Blohm represented Shiner.

Beloved daughter of Dr and Mrs C L Kopecky Miss Leonita Kopecky died at the family home in Yoakum early Wednesday. Burial will be in Shiner Thursday afternoon. The Methodist church elder calls third quarterly conferences to meet in Cuero next Sunday at 3 o clock. E L Merrem and family of Yoakum in town Monday.
