Petrified wood art trees and lit miniature lighthouses brighten Shiner yards
Shiner residents admire landscape ornamentations at the Menning and Kasper Wagner properties. A Dutch windmill eight feet high and a miniature lighthouse, both carved from petrified wood, feature lighting from base to dome and a nearby fish pond. The pieces celebrate a discovered petrified forest and colorful wood tones from orange to black. Visitors are invited to view the displays at these homes en route to the Shiner Fair. Also highlighted is Wilson Macha’s cactus garden with 225 varieties and a raised bed, showing a shipment to Australia.

Mrs. A. C. Louwein Passes in Houston
Mrs. A. C. Louwein died in Houston at 7 am on Wednesday July 3. She leaves her husband and daughter, her mother Mrs. E. Runk of Shiner, sisters Mrs. Elo Wolters and Miss Emma Runk, and brothers Herbert of Shiner Hans of Port Lavaca and Bismark of Alice. Funeral services are set for 4 pm Thursday in Houston.
