National Independence Day on July 4th prompted Shiner merchants to close for the holiday. Citizens are urged to purchase all supplies by Wednesday to cover through Friday.
The Shiner Brewers meet Kerrville's Strong Legion Cubs on July 4 at 3 PM in a likely top Hill County League clash. Last year Shiner won 7 to 5 after a nine inning battle. the Brewers ride a four game win streak while the Cubs push for first place.

Geier-Merrem Post of Moulton will host the Third Division and the Ninth District American Legion next Sunday, June 30, with elaborate preparations underway. National Commander Frank N. B Bednar hit for four runs on one at bat with a hit, a walk and two hit by pitches, while Zonie Keil umpired bases and other umpires drew lighthearted remarks. Funeral attendees for Mrs. P A Lyons included many relatives from multiple towns and counties.
A committee from the 44th Legislature will meet in Dallas next Monday, July 1, to study conditions affecting the South's cotton industry. The group urges attendance by all involved in growing, ginning, transporting, shipping, marketing, buying, selling, processing, manufacturing, spinning, warehousing, or exporting cotton.

The music class of Mrs. S A Thulemeyer spent a delightful day Monday as guests at the Twin Oaks summer camp. The outing proved especially enjoyable for the pupils and their teacher.
Mrs Lizzie Cauthern who had para typhoid at her daughter Mrs Henry Hirschs home has returned to her own home. Many friends express happiness at her recovery.
