David Hagendorf age 17 years 7 months 5 days died January 26 1969 in New Braunfels. Funeral services held January 29 1969 at Buffington Funeral Home Shiner then Shiner Catholic Church Requiem Mass 10:00 a.m. Rosary was recited January 28. Burial in Shiner Catholic Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs Joe Neffie Peterek were held at St. James Catholic Church in Gonzales with burial in St James Cemetery. She died January 21 1969 at age 80 after a long Gonzales residence. survived by two daughters two sons eleven grandchildren two great grandchildren and four sisters. Her husband died in 1957 and several relatives are listed.

Services are pending for Jim Turk 67 at Buffington Funeral Home Shiner. Turk died at 6 25 am Wednesday January 29 at Wagner Memorial Hospital. M J Bozka 77 former Hallettsville mayor died at 5 35 pm Tuesday January 28 at a Hallettsville hospital after a long illness. Funeral services set for 2 45 pm Thursday January 30 at Kabena Funeral Home and 3 pm at Sacred Heart Church Halettsville.

Elo A Fisseler 58 7 2 of 7884 SW 35th Terrace Miami died 4 am Tuesday January 14 1969 at Doctors Hospital Miami from injuries in a two car crash at SW 92nd Ave and 15th St He lay in state at Carl F Slade Bird Road Chapel with services January 17 Burial at Miami Memorial Park Cemetery Veterans honors by VFW Post 5718 Coral Gables Pallbearers were Community Utilities workers He survived by two sisters and two brothers plus a daughter who died in 1949 and his second wife Lucille Fisseler who died December 1968 The family resided in Miami and he was a retired US Navy Chief Warrant Officer serving in Korea He is buried with military rites in Miami.

Texas Lutheran College Concert Band Set for Shiner Show

Texas Lutheran College Concert Band will perform February 2 at the Shiner High School Gym at 7 30 p.m. The 90 minute program, arranged by M A Nyquist, includes The Umbrellas of Cherbourg Fantasy Stars and Stripes Forever Colonel Bogey and more with international tunes and light classics. Shiner Student Wins 5th in District Voice of Democracy

Shiner High School student Rosalie Nevlud placed fifth in District 24 for the Voice of Democracy contest. Winners from St Paul High School were chosen under chairs Mrs Lorene Miculka and Ewald Erdelt of VFW Post 6209 and Ladies Auxiliary for the 22nd annual contest with theme Freedom's Challenge.

Shiner Independent School District announces a summer Driver Education program for 1969. Classroom instruction runs February 28 through April 11 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Students must be 15 before February 28 and submit applications to their principal by February 7.

Rites Held For Jim Kouba in Moulton Funeral Services

Funeral services for Jim Kouba of Moulton who died January 13 1969 were held January 15 at Smith Funeral Home and St Josephs Church. Burial was in Moulton Catholic Cemetery. Surviving are his wife six children three brothers two sisters and a half sister. He was 63. He lived in Lava ca County and had run Kouba Grocery with his wife before working at St Joseph church and school. He was a devout Catholic and member of Knights of Columbus and St Isidor Society.

He was born May 5 1891 in Prada Texas and died January 23 1969 at Huth Hospital. He is survived by two daughters two sons six sisters and three brothers.
