Henry S Paulus of Yoakum receives re appointment as regent of the State Colleges. He has served under Ferguson Moody and Sterling. State Colleges served include Huntsville Canyon Denton San Marcos Alpine Nacogdoches Kingsville and Stephenville.
The Red Cross relief drive in Shiner is far from its goal with only 40 dollars received at Farmers State Bank. A few days remain to contribute before the drive closes Friday night January 20th.
Shiner High School basketball traveled to Austin to face the Prep School of St Edwards University. The Shiner team won a fast game 14 to 19 with courteous hosting by St Edwards players. A return game is planned in Shiner on February 27 if all goes well.
Death reported of Mrs. Jane McVea in Gonzales. She was sister of Mrs. E. J. Merrem of our city, with heartfelt sympathy extended to Mrs Merrem in her bereavement. Aug Schmidt and family of Yoakum visited relatives on Sunday.

Directors re elected included Fred Remmers John Bohman J J Baros and J J Novak. Officers elected in the executive session were J H Elsik president John Bohman vice president and Henry F Ehlers secretary treasurer.
