Ladies Aid gathers for first meeting of year

The Ladies Aid Society of the M. E. Church will meet at Mrs. W R Perry's home on Wednesday January 23. It is the first meeting of the year with annual officer elections and dues payment. Mrs. Perry urges all members to attend.

Death of Hel en Margret Martin in Floresville

The Gazette offers sympathy to Mr and Mrs R L Martin in the death of their only child Helen Margret aged 13. Funeral held in Floresville on Saturday afternoon January 5 1924. Helen was born here and was the niece of W L Martin, a fellow townsman.

Boy in Hasletts ville shoots himself in reversers

Master James Strauss twelve year old son of Henry J. Strauss of Hallents ville was brought to the hospital on the night train after an air gun accident. His aunt Miss Kopecky R. N. of San Antonio, visiting Hasletts ville, accompanied him. An X ray Friday determined the extent of the injury.

Will Resigns as Local Yard Manager for Woodring- Meyer

Will Jaroszewski resigns from Woodring- Meyer Lumber Co after four years as local yard manager, effective January 1 1924. He will move to Shiner to become general manager of the yard for Temple Lumber Co, with Mrs Jaroszewski accompanying him. The Yoakum Times notes he is a capable business professional and this departure is a loss for Yoakum but a gain for Shiner.

Civic League to elect officers Thursday meeting

The Civic League will meet Thursday January 24 at 3 30 PM at Mrs C L Welhausen’s home. The session will cover annual officer elections and dues payment with urging for all members to attend.

Mrs. C. R. Longoria hosted the Five Hundred Club at her West End home Friday afternoon. New member Mrs. Louis Fink joined, replacing Miss Hila Playman who has entered Baptist Sanitarium in Houston.
