Catholic Wedding At San Fernando Cathedral

Pesek and Miss Annie Victoria Benys of Yoakum wed at San Fernando Cathedral Monday morning at 7:80. Bishop Arthur J. Drossaerts officiated with attendants J J Jaresh. The ceremony featured marble altars, palm decor, electric lights, and Holy Communion. A breakfast followed at the Sismilick home on Denver Boulevard. Guests included Mayor Gus Russek and many from Yoakum and San Antonio. The newlyweds depart for Houston and New Orleans, with residence in Yoakum to follow after January 15.

Wedding Bells and New Year's Union in One Quiet Ceremony

Miss Ebhel Miller and Mr. Henry Lee wed at the Lutheran Parsonage on January 1, 1924 with Miss Flora Mae Pannewitz as witness. Roy Pfenninger officiated before the couple traveled to Cuero and San Antonio, returning Friday night. Miller is a bookkeeper at frautwein & Wolters. Lee served in World War I and held his post upon return. Gazette offers congratulations to the couple.

New Year Meeting and Club Officers Elected

The XX Century Club held its New Year meeting January with Miss Elo Wolters as hostess. Twenty members attended. Officers elected: President Mrs Alfred Schramm, Vice President Mrs A L Fuller, Secretary Miss Stella Walters, Assistant Secretary Mrs Edgar C Walters, Treasurer Mrs William Wendtland Jr. The two year limit prevented reelection of the retiring president. Lesson was First Forms of Religion led by Mrs Wendtland Jr assisted by Mrs Koether on Nature Worship. Next meeting January 17 hosted by Mrs Koether.

Wedding Unites Popular Couple in Spanish Colony

Last Wednesday morning at 6 30 Father Netardus officiated the ceremony uniting Senor Martin Martinez and Senorita Manuella Cortez. A wedding dinner followed at the bride’s home then the couple departed for Corpus Christi on a bridal tour. Manuella, a Shiner High School graduate last May, was noted as the first Spanish descent pupil to finish at Shiner schools. Martin works at Seim’s Transfer and both are highly regarded locally.

Frank Jaks Jr Leaves Hospital After New Year Accident

Frank Jaks Jr son of Mr and Mrs Frank Jaks was able to leave Dr Gus Schulze hospital Monday after an accident New Year s Day when his gun accidentally discharged severing the pulse artery in the right hand and causing damage to the right side of his face He had a narrow escape but is improved enough to be taken home.
