W A Thulemeyer, a pioneer in Karnes county development, died at 69 at his sister Mrs A F Kauffmann's home after years of declining health. He helped colonize grazing land, built a real estate and mercantile presence with A F Kauffmann, started the first gin in 1891, and later ran a broom factory. Survived by six siblings. funeral held in Kenedy with Hermann Sons pallbearers.
Miss Roxie Veree Buske a University of Texas student from Shiner sustained fractures in three or more places after a car carrying classmates overturned on the Post road near Plum Creek bridge four miles from Austin. Doctors reported slow improvement with continued recovery hoped due to on scene aid from Dr A A Ross and others.
J C Blohm served as a passenger traveling to Houston last Sunday.
Friday night piano recital hosted by Dr and Mrs A L Fuller in Amster Flats featured fourteen pupils from Mrs W W Shropshire Yoakum class plus local attendees. James V Michna and Mrs Shropshire performed violin and piano after the recital. Guests praised the pupils proficiency and execution while punch and cake concluded the event.
City Collector J. M. Canon warns that January 31 is the final date to pay city and school taxes. A ten percent penalty will be added after the limit. Only a few days remain to avoid penalties and delinquency.

Mrs Elo Wolters telegram urges a national Red Cross relief drive of at least ten million dollars to combat drought in twenty one states. It notes increased demand, water supply pollution from dying cattle, and asks every chapter to donate its quota of four hundred dollars at the Farmers State Bank to support relief and prevention of suffering.
