The marriage of William Grant and Louise Haas was performed Monday at 8 am at a Catholic church with Father Netardus officiating. The couple, both active in local life and business, reside across from the hospital and will be greeted by friends in the community.

The Firemen's New Year's Ball proved the year’s most successful fundraiser with 100 tickets or buttons sold at the door. Proceeds topped 325 dollars as attendees from other towns joined locals in ringing in the new year. Supt. Chas Kasper of Flatonia visited home for the holidays with his mother and sisters Alice and Vera, briefly visiting San Antonio last week.
G T Gibbons announces preaching at 11 AM and 7 PM next Sunday January 11 at the Methodist Church. All parishioners and visitors urged to attend both morning and evening services.
The Parent-Teachers Association holds its first New Year meeting at the High School with dues payable and a large attendance expected. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Blohm and Dorothy Jean visited Schulenburg relatives for Christmas. Theo Rogge home guests over New Year included Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Archer of Gonzales, Mr. and Mrs. George Rogge of Robstown, and Miss Mae Rogge of Waco.
The annual meeting of Shiner Compress and Warehouse Company stockholders will be held at the company office in Shiner Texas on Wednesday January 14 1931 at 3 o clock.
Mr and Mrs William Herder celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Monday December 29 with a quiet home gathering. Their family totals seven children seven grandchildren and one great grandchild, the latter sharing eight living grandparents including four grandmothers and four grandfathers. The event reflected the couple's simple and pioneer-spirited life.
W. J. Martin plans to present Shiner High School with a $25,000 gymnasium as a New Year memorial to his mother and father. He asks the Gazette make no further statements at this time.
A Christmas morning blaze gutted Mrs. Lillie Muecke’s home sparing no possessions while occupants escaped with injuries. Clarence and two friends were inside as the tree sparked, igniting cotton decorations. The fire forced neighboring residents to flee and left several boarders and family members with substantial losses. Insurance and relocations noted. residents seek sympathy from the city.
Miss Louise Stach spent the New Year with Miss Justine Geffert at Yorktown enjoying social gatherings and hospitality in a quiet town setting.
At its regular year end meeting in Yoakum the Lavaca County Medical Society elected Dr. F. M. Wagner of Shiner as president and Dr. J. W. Boyle of Shiner as secretary and treasurer.
Mr and Mrs Albert Schubert of Rickett Iowa and Mr and Mrs Joe Roemisch with sons Monroe and Nelson of New Braunfels spent Christmas in the Frank Welfl home.
