Pioneer Citizen Henry Renken Resting Homeward Burial

The funeral for Henry Renken was held Wednesday at 2 30 P M from Richard Wendels home with Rev J C A Pfenninger and O D H S conducting services. Born March 7 1855 in Langwarden Germany he emigrated to America in 1889 settling in Shiner later building on the site now City Hall. He was a Texas pioneer who came two years after the railroad. His wife Helene Bruns died Jan 10 1893 and he was laid to rest beside her almost on the 37th anniversary of that death. Renken lived in Austin with daughter Bertha Renken for 20 years. Surviving children include son William Renken and daughter Elizabeth Martens of San Antonio, with grandchildren Paul Renken and Helene Renken. He was the last of his immediate family. a sister had died in St Louis five years earlier. Scores of friends extend sympathy.

Death of Mrs Mattie Nave Carson in Dallas

Friends and family mourn the sudden death of Mrs. Mattie Nave Carson from flu pneumonia at her Dallas home on January 28. She leaving a husband and daughter Margaret 14, two brothers Gordon Nave of Alice and Sam of Uvalde, sister Elizabeth Goff of San Antonio, and was 34. Her remains were shipped to Kenedy to lie beside her parents Dr and Mrs Sam Nave in Shiner, where she grew up.

Cattle Sheep and Hogs Ship Load Planned March First Monday

Farmers car lots will ship cattle sheep and hogs on the first Monday in March the 8th. Anyone with items to ship must notify Leo Hubner Frank Tassler Jr or Herman Caka six days prior.

Aid Society Opens Year With Hostess and Officers

The Ladies' Aid Society of the Methodist Church met last Thursday at Mrs. C. B. Welhausen's home. Officers were elected with Mrs. J. C. Habermacher as president and Mrs. S. A. Thulemeyer as treasurer. A $10 New Year offering was sent to the Orphans Home in Waco. Refreshments followed, and the February meeting will be at Mrs. J. C. Blohm's home.

In Memory of Paul Barcak

A Lovely Tribute to Mrs Hermine Richter Passed Away in Weimar

The Weimar Mercury editor pays a personal tribute to Mrs Hermine Richter known as Tante Mimi. A beloved neighbor who visited many relatives in Shiner she inspired gatherings with heartfelt counsel and devoted service to church work. She lived with her granddaughter Mrs Hilda Watson before dying peacefully after a long illness. Her loss is deeply mourned by family friends and the community as they seek comfort.
