A church service celebrates the Christmas season with the hymn Joy to the World Let earth receive her King and voices of the congregation fill the space. The program emphasizes traditional carols and a celebratory nativity message for attendees.
Reverend Kenneth Ahl of Hal lettsville will preach Sunday morning December 22 at 10 30 and again on Christmas Day morning at 10 30. Everyone is invited to attend.
The church schedules Christmas season services with a German service on December 22 at 10:30 A M and 1 30 P M rehearsal for the program at City Hall. Christmas Day includes a 10 A M Holy Communion service and a 7 P M Sunday school program at City Hall. Pastor J C A Pfenninger invites all.
Mrs Hugh Koether hosted a Monday afternoon 42 party with three tables. Mrs Alois Kasper won first prize and Mrs E G Buske took consolation. Christmas and Santa Claus were featured as a festive motif and refreshments included a salad course with hot coffee.
F W Striebeck, 64, died at 7:35 p m Tuesday in a local hospital. Survived by six sons W E A W H H C and F O H Striebeck of Houston and C E Striebeck of Maplewood Missouri. two daughters Mrs J D McDonald of Palestine and Mrs R F Martin of Houston. six grandchildren. Funeral services to be conducted by the Masonic order Cade Rothwell No 1151 Scottish Rite and Virginia No 6 K of P.
C P Harrison died after a two week illness at his family home in Flatonia Texas on December 19. He hailed from a pioneer Fayette County family and his father founded a large South Texas mercantile business. He leaves a wife a small son three sisters and a brother. Funeral services were held Thursday with Rev O O Moore and the Knights of Pythias at the cemetery. He was a longtime member of both groups.
Mrs. F L Reeder hosted a miscellaneous shower on Thursday December 12 complimenting Miss Helen Ruhman the bride elect. A large syink basket of gifts graced the table and Miss Lillye Stevenson and J R Nunnelly assisted.

St. Ludmila's Academy hosts a Christmas tree event on Thursday night December 26 at 7 30 PM in the school building. Everyone is invited to attend.
The Shiner Volunteer Fire Company holds its annual Firemen's Ball on Tuesday night December 31 1929 with music by the Golden Gate Orchestra. A maple floor invites dancing and a fine New Year’s Eve event is promised for all who attend to support the firemen.
The Methodist Sunday School hosts a program followed by a Christmas tree lighting at the Church on Wednesday night December 25 at 7 o'clock P M. Everyone is invited.
A Christmas dance will be held at Wied on Thursday night December 26 with good music. Everyone is invited to attend.
A Thursday December 26 event at Bluecher Park offers an old time dance featuring the Golden Gate Orchestra with admission set at 50 cents.
City Marshal announces no fireworks will be shot in Shiner's business district this Christmas. He instructs sellers to warn buyers to leave the business section before firing them to safeguard property.
