Mrs. Ella Wheeler Sullivan died at her Flatonia home at 5 20 am Saturday December 10 aged 82 years 23 days Funeral services were held at 2 pm Sunday December 11 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev George A Lewis Jr officiating Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery Pallbearers were R A Wheeler L N Lyon Jr R D Clancy Dr Leslie A Wheeler Jr Dr John F Wheeler and Dr William H Wheeler Surviving are a brother Dr L A Wheeler of Flatonia and a sister Mrs W F Margie Donnelly of North Little Rock Ark Born November 17 1873 in Hallettsville she attended Flatonia schools and Mary Baldwin College after 23 years at Pine Log Lodge Tyler she returned to Flatonia last January
L C Henry 15 was sentenced to the state reformatory until age 21 for the murder of Herbert Johnson 60 a Schulenburg Negro leader and American Legion post commander. Henry admitted the December 4 killing by beating and burning Johnsons body and placing it beside his car near Mount Eden Gonzales County. Judge W W Ellison presided in a nonjury trial with no further action possible until age 21. Johnson was a prominent local NAACP member.
Immanuel Lutheran Church announces confessions Friday December 23 4 to 6 and 7 30 to 9 p m Christmas Eve December 24 9 to 11 am and 3 to 6 pm Masses include a 12 midnight service and Day Masses at 6 00 7 30 8 00 and 9 30 a m High Masses shown. The Czech Moravian Brethren Church announces church school at 9 30 a m and morning worship with choir numbers as usual. There will be no evening service on Christmas Day. Public invited to Methodist Church for Christmas worship. Holy Communion services Sunday Dec 25 at 7 p m instead of 5 p m per Rev Gordn Hejl.
Funeral services were held for Rudolph Siegel at the Buffington Funeral Home Shiner with a Solemn Requiem Mass at Shiner Catholic Church. He was born April 9 1881 in Frenstat near Prague and died December 18 5:30 a.m. Surviving are his widow seven sons two daughters and numerous grandchildren. Burial in Shiner Catholic Cemetery followed rosaries in town.
Col Homer Garrison Jr and statistician N K Woerner predict 112 motorcides 39 homicides and 53 other deaths in Texas during the 11 day Christmas New Year period. They urge motorists to obey traffic laws and show courtesy to reduce the toll.

Mrs. Rose Perdue aged 58 died December 12 at 6 am in John Sealy Hospital Galveston after a lengthy illness. Funeral held December 14 at Emken Linton Chapel Texas City with Rev. Dave Currie officiating. interment Galveston Memorial Park. Born October 11 1897 in Weimar she was daughter of George Louis Keller and Katherine Alien Keller. She is survived by husband James M and siblings Frank Henry George Mary.
Padre Beach on Padre Island Texas derives its name from 19th century Spanish priest Padre Nicho las Balli who fled Matamoros during the 1810 Mexican Revolution. He sought title to the island for almost two decades but died in 1827 before ownership was secured. His nephew operated a ranch on the island.
Columbus L Vogelsang 63 of 2125 W Olmos Dr San Antonio died at home December 17 Survivors include wife Antonio Vogelsang daughter Mrs F C Wallace a brother Marcel Vogelsang and sister Mrs Lee Hartman The service is Monday December 19 at Akers Chapel San Antonio with Rev J Edward Marshall officiating then graveside at Round Top at 4 pm
Lavaca County Farm Bureau led by G. O. Little announces a special re opening for Blue Cross Blue Shield Group enrollment from January 15 to February 15. Members joining through Farm Bureau gain hospital and doctor prepayment without the usual six month wait, with C LE coverage up to 5000 for eleven bread diseases over five years.
Death of Dr Hugo J Strieder longtime Moulton physician announced he died Sunday December 11 in Tennessee. Funeral services were held December 16 at Smith Funeral Home and St Josephs Church with interment in Moulton Catholic Cemetery. He served in the U S Navy and built a hospital near his home. Survived by wife Lillie Migl two daughters Louella Rosemarie and father John Strieder.
The Gonzales County Savings and Loan Association will pay a 3 percent semi annual dividend on December 31, 1955 to over 1100 savers, totaling more than 34000. 1955 dividends exceed 66000 with assets around 2700000, loans 2275000, and capital reserves 175000.
