Tom Malina Sr. Lifelong Shiner Resident Dies at 62

Tom Malina Sr. died Sunday December 12 after years of illness at age 62 years 3 months 1 day. Born September 11 1886 in Lavaca County he lived on a Shiner area farm and married Annie Elsik in Shiner in 1911. He leaves wife two daughters two sons three brothers three sisters four grandchildren and a host of relatives. Funeral services were held December 14 at 2 pm at the Czech Moravian Brethren Church near Shiner with burial in the church cemetery guided by Rev H E Beseda.

Shiner Rotary Honors Rotary Ann at Christmas Banquet

Shiner Rotary Club honored the Rotary Ann’s at a Christmas party with a 60 guest banquet. Festive decor featured poinsettias pine sprays and red tapers. Attendees included visiting Rotarian Walter Dietschke and guests Henry Goetz Mrs Kasper Mrs Valenta and others as well as nine perfect attendance pins awarded to local Rotarians. The program included a pantomime of the Babe of Bethlehem and choral carols led by Mrs Wagner and Bell.
