New Year’s Eve Dance for Shiner Fire Department
The Shiner Volunteer Fire Department announces its New Year’s Eve Dance at Legion Park on Monday December 31 1973. Joe Patek and His Orchestra provide music with free tables and weather will not curb the event. Tickets go on sale December 8 at $1 advance and $1.50 at the door. Donations accepted via firemen members Frankie Kubecka or George Buddy Minear at First National Bank.

Services For World War I Veteran Joe Baros In Shiner
Joe Baros 85 years old died December 6 1973 at Polly Ryan Hospital Richmond after a day there. He lived at Retama Manor Rosenberg since 1970 and lay in state at Buffington Funeral Home Shiner. Funeral December 8 included American Legion rites and burial in Shiner City Cemetery. Baros born June 24 1888 in Lavaca County served in Co C 110th Inf 28th Div in WWI. Survived by two daughters and three granddaughters among others.
