Rotary Club Hosts Both Shiner Football Squads

The Shiner Rotary Club sponsored a banquet at the High School gym honoring the Shiner High School Comanches and S L A Cardinals. Dr Carl Bredt of the University of Texas spoke on humane relations as players from both squads received praise and a $40 fundraising split supported athletic funds.

Lavaca County PMA delegates met in Hallettsville to elect the County Committee with 914 farmers voting. New officers include Eugene Freytag as Chairman and Jerome Harbich as Vice-Chairman. Committeemen for each community named with regular and alternate members. terms begin December 1, 1950, shifting from January 1 start.

Poultry Meeting Set Tonight in Shiner

A poultry meeting is scheduled for tonight December 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Shiner City Hall. Veterans classes poultrymen and families are invited. Door prizes will be awarded. A program on the poultry business will explain current poultry industry trends with Mr Beanblossom of A and M leading the session.

Regular meeting of the Chamber of Commerce is set for 7:00 PM at City Hall. Members urged to attend early, stay late, and help prepare community proposal packages.

Shiner Named on New Highway Post Office Route

A Texas Highway Post Office will inaugurate December 15 between Waco and Yoakum, with Shiner included after local efforts. The bus mail system, replacing old rail offices, will run a trial in Shiner at 4:50 p.m. for ten minutes before establishing a regular schedule.

Lavaca Farm Bureau Sets 600-Member Goal At Hallettsville Meet

Lavaca County Farm Bureau organizers aim for 600 members in 1951. Leon Lane of Luling presided as plans were approved by Mike Janak and others. Lane outlined Texas Farm Bureau schedule and urged attendance at the 1951 Dallas and A and M College trainings. Resolutions from Mineral Wells were shared.
