The Gazette seeks timely notes from local organizations for the holiday edition. Deadline is Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. to prevent delays in printing and mailing. Requests for late Wednesday items are unlikely to be used. provide Christmas guest names and travel notices to help deliver a newsy paper.
The Shiner Rotary Club sponsored a banquet at the High School gym honoring the Shiner High School Comanches and S L A Cardinals. Dr Carl Bredt of the University of Texas spoke on humane relations as players from both squads received praise and a $40 fundraising split supported athletic funds.
The Lavaca County PMA announces 1951 peanut acreage allotment notices mailed to farm operators with over one acre harvested 1948–50. Referendum on quotas set for December 14, 1950, with review deadlines and polling places listed for each community.
Lavaca County PMA delegates met in Hallettsville to elect the County Committee with 914 farmers voting. New officers include Eugene Freytag as Chairman and Jerome Harbich as Vice-Chairman. Committeemen for each community named with regular and alternate members. terms begin December 1, 1950, shifting from January 1 start.
A poultry meeting is scheduled for tonight December 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Shiner City Hall. Veterans classes poultrymen and families are invited. Door prizes will be awarded. A program on the poultry business will explain current poultry industry trends with Mr Beanblossom of A and M leading the session.
Regular meeting of the Chamber of Commerce is set for 7:00 PM at City Hall. Members urged to attend early, stay late, and help prepare community proposal packages.
A Texas Highway Post Office will inaugurate December 15 between Waco and Yoakum, with Shiner included after local efforts. The bus mail system, replacing old rail offices, will run a trial in Shiner at 4:50 p.m. for ten minutes before establishing a regular schedule.
The Gazette announces that St. Ludmila's Academy Christmas holidays start Friday December 22 at 1 30 p m. Studies resume Tuesday January 2 1951.
The Ver and Ko0e2 lodges will meet Sunday at 1 30 p m. Social hour follows the business session with lunch provided by members.
Lavaca County Farm Bureau organizers aim for 600 members in 1951. Leon Lane of Luling presided as plans were approved by Mike Janak and others. Lane outlined Texas Farm Bureau schedule and urged attendance at the 1951 Dallas and A and M College trainings. Resolutions from Mineral Wells were shared.
Regular meeting of the M Y F will be held Thursday night December 7 at seven oclock in the Methodist educational building. The worship service Sunday night December 10 will begin promptly at 530 oclock.
Hajek's Implement and Supply Co presents a Dec 12 John Deere Day at Shiner City Hall with six new movies headlined by One Happy Family starring Don DeFore and Marjorie Reynolds. Tickets available at Hajek Implement. Event promises family oriented entertainment for farmers and their families.
